Our yoga holiday in Soma Bay Egypt may be just the place for you. There's peace and tranquility, we spend time relaxing by the sea, we practice yoga steps from the beach, stay at a wonderful 5* hotel, splurge on spa treatments, and enjoy delicious meals. If you can't resist until the summer, come along with us in April for a sunshine break – just a short flight from Europe, it's super warm and sunny, and you'll feel stress-free and restored in no time.

What should I expect?

-  Tania’s wonderful yoga classes, twice a day right by the beach

-  Lots of sunshine, bright blue sky, and summer weather guaranteed

-  The #1 hotel on the Red Sea

-  Spacious sea view rooms with a free mini-bar

-  White sandy beaches surrounded by peace and tranquility

-  Delicious meals

-  The best spa in Egypt

-  Watersports, golfing, cooking classes, boat trips, or just reading a book by the pool

-  An easygoing group, and we won't judge if you sleep in whenever you want!

-  No rules, we eat what we like, we enjoy a glass of wine, and everything is optional

-  Personalized service with two Yoga Escapes reps on location

We've included plenty of details below about the hotel, about Soma Bay, and activities during the week, but feel free to contact us directly with any questions or to book your place.

Why Soma Bay in Egypt?

Soma Bay is relaxing and beautiful with sunshine year-round – still pristine, it’s Egypt's best-kept secret.

We discovered Soma Bay through word of mouth, recommended to us as the most exclusive beach resort on the Red Sea. And in fact it's a little paradise – still unspoiled by mass tourism, and the perfect destination for a week of yoga, beach and relaxation. It also offers plenty of activities from sailing, diving and snorkeling, kitesurfing and golfing, as well as the best spa in Egypt – all right near our 5* hotel. It's extremely safe and only a short flight from Europe with direct flights – very easy to get to.

And we'll be there to show you around, take care of everything, organize dinners and activities, and offer you an unforgettable experience!

What type of yoga, and what if I’ve never tried yoga before?

Tania will teach an active Vinyasa flow class in the morning to get your energy flowing, and a restorative Yin yoga class in the evening to wind down the day. We'll practice outside right near the beach in a quiet covered area with views of the sea and of the lovely marina. And yes, you can join even if you've never tried yoga before. Tania will offer alternatives for each pose, so you can go at your own pace or challenge yourself a bit more – up to you.

Can I come alone?

Yes, many people come on their own, and from all over the world. We also have couples, friends, sisters, and all age ranges – everyone is welcome.

Is it safe?

Soma Bay is extremely safe with 24-hour security throughout the resort. The Kempinski hotel has also it’s own private security with another set of hotel entrance gates, with hotel staff and guards throughout. We know that the media periodically raises high alerts for Egypt, but Soma Bay is so far removed from the places they mention, and we would never risk going to a resort that wasn’t safe.

If you could only see how peaceful and tranquil it is – when we were there just recently, we all agreed we felt safer there than in the streets of London! Here is also a reassuring security note directly from the Kempinski Hotel.

Our Egypt yoga retreat will take place at the stunning 5* Kempinski Hotel:

Luxury Yoga Retreats Egypt 5 Star Hotel - Yoga Escapes at our 5* hotel on a luxury yoga retreat in Egypt - Yoga Escapes Egypt beach - Yoga Escapes

If you're looking for absolute luxury – this is it. The Kempinski Hotel was voted the #1 hotel on the Red Sea by TripAdvisor and is unanimously considered to be the most high-end hotel in the region.

Resembling an ancient Moorish fortress, it mixes contemporary European and Egyptian styles, with faultless attention to detail. It has a stunning entrance, and a series of pools, lagoons and waterfalls flowing down to a white sandy beach. The hotel's customer service is full of warm Egyptian hospitality, and the feeling of peace is heavenly.

You'll be staying in large sea view rooms with private balconies and views of the Red Sea. Internet is included, as is a minibar in your room refilled once a day, and free access to the gym, sauna, steamroom, jacuzzi and health club pool.

The hotel has five restaurants, including a seafood restaurant, a pan-Asian restaurant, and a traditional Egyptian restaurant.

What is there to do at the hotel?

For your free time in between yoga classes, the Kempinski has a Leisure Program with many organized activities and classes you can join. From beach volleyball, guided snorkeling trips, acqua gym, intro classes to golf and tennis, and a fun Arabic cooking class (we'll do that one all together just for fun!). And the friendly staff will happily arrange any service you need, including boat trips and day excursions to nearby sites. If all that sounds like too much, the high-end spa offers a wide range of amazing treatments as an alternative.

Not many people know about Soma Bay, which makes it all the more special. It’s not crowded, it’s not touristy, you won’t find package holidays groups – just people in the know, enjoying a break in a peaceful place.

Soma Bay has some of the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Red Sea, with year round sunshine, and is home to a world-famous spa and golf course. The peninsula is surrounded on three sides by gorgeous blue water and long beaches, featuring top-of-the-line hotels, windsurfing, sailing and much more.

One of Soma Bay's biggest attractions is the spectacular spa and thalasso center of Les Cascades, rated the best in Egypt. The resort also offers delicious restaurants and stylish cafés, to beach BBQs and seaside bars. It also has one of the premier yachting marinas in Egypt, with peaceful alleys and courtyards, boutique shops, restaurants and cafés.

The resort is immaculately maintained and prides itself on environmental sustainability. It has an upmarket feel, attracts discerning upscale tourists from around the world, and is an extremely secure gated community. For more details about the security, here is a reassuring security note from the Kempinski Hotel.

Additional security notes directly from the Kempinski Hotel in Soma Bay:

General situation: the Kempinski Hotel is located very far from the country borders and we are therefore not affected by any threats. It is a peaceful and completely safe resort, guarded 24 hours a day.

Hurghada: there are high levels of security starting from Hurghada Airport where our guests land all the way to the Kempinski Hotel. The road is full of hotels and resorts, so it is not a secluded area, and there are various security check points along the way.

Soma Bay is a closed resort compound next to the national police, it has its own private security and a separate entrance with closed gates.

Kempinski Hotel: in addition to the Soma Bay entrance gates, the Kempinski Hotel has a second set of gates with an additional private security check point, with hotel staff and guards throughout.
