Why Soma Bay in Egypt?
Soma Bay is relaxing and beautiful with sunshine year-round.
It 's the most exclusive beach resort on the Red Sea, still unspoiled by mass tourism, and the perfect destination for a week of yoga, beach and relaxation. It has the best spa in Egypt and offers plenty of activities from sailing, diving and snorkeling, kitesurfing and golfing – all right near our 5* hotel. It's extremely safe and only a short flight from Europe with direct flights.
And we'll be there to show you around, take care of everything, organize dinners and activities, and offer you an unforgettable experience!
What type of yoga?
Tania Brown will teach an active Vinyasa flow class in the morning to get your energy flowing, and a restorative Yin yoga class in the evening to wind down the day. We'll practice outside right near the beach in a quiet covered area with views of the sea and of the lovely marina. And you can join even if you've never tried yoga before. Tania will offer alternatives for each pose, so you can go at your own pace or challenge yourself a bit more – up to you.
Can I come alone?
Yes, many people come on their own, and from all over the world. We also have couples, friends, sisters, and all age ranges – everyone is welcome.
Is it safe?
Soma Bay is extremely safe with 24-hour security throughout the resort. The Kempinski hotel has also it’s own private security with another set of hotel entrance gates, with hotel staff and guards throughout. We know that the media periodically raises high alerts for Egypt, but Soma Bay is so far removed from the places they mention, and we would never risk going to a resort that wasn’t safe.
If you could only see how peaceful and remote it is – when we were there just recently, we all agreed we felt safer there than in the streets of London! Here is also a reassuring security note directly from the Kempinski Hotel.
8:30–10am: Vinyasa flow yoga class
10–11am: Breakfast / brunch
11am–5pm: Free time, beach, spa..
5–6pm: Restorative Yin yoga class
Evening: Dinner in Soma Bay
Our Egypt yoga retreat will take place at the stunning 5* Kempinski Hotel:
If you're looking for absolute luxury – this is it. The Kempinski Hotel was voted the #1 hotel on the Red Sea by TripAdvisor and is unanimously considered to be the most high-end hotel in the region.
It resembles an ancient Moorish fortress, mixing contemporary European and Egyptian styles. It has a stunning entrance, and a series of pools, lagoons and waterfalls flowing down to a white sandy beach. The hotel's customer service is full of warm Egyptian hospitality, and the feeling of peace is heavenly.
You'll be staying in large sea view rooms with private balconies and views of the Red Sea. Internet is included, as is a minibar in your room refilled once a day, and free access to the gym, sauna, steamroom, jacuzzi and health club pool.
The hotel has five restaurants, including a seafood restaurant, a pan-Asian restaurant, and a traditional Egyptian restaurant.
There's beach volleyball, guided snorkeling trips, acqua gym, intro classes to golf and tennis, and a fun Arabic cooking class (we may do that one all together just for fun!). And the friendly staff will happily arrange any service you need, including boat trips and day excursions to nearby sites.
Egypt's most upscale and exclusive beach resort on the Red Sea:
Not many people know about Soma Bay, which makes it all the more special. It’s not crowded nor touristy, you won't find package holidays groups – just people in the know, enjoying a break in a peaceful place.
Soma Bay has some of the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Red Sea, with year round sunshine, and is home to a world-famous spa and golf course. The peninsula is surrounded on three sides by gorgeous blue water and long beaches, featuring top-of-the-line hotels, windsurfing, sailing and more.
One of Soma Bay's biggest attractions is the spectacular spa and thalasso center of Les Cascades, rated the best in Egypt. The resort also offers delicious restaurants and stylish cafés, to beach BBQs and seaside bars. It also has one of the premier yachting marinas in Egypt, with peaceful alleys, courtyards, and boutique shops.
The resort is immaculately maintained and prides itself on environmental sustainability. It has an upmarket feel, attracts discerning upscale tourists from around the world, and is an extremely secure gated community. For more details about the security, here is a reassuring security note from the Kempinski Hotel.

Additional security notes directly from the Kempinski Hotel in Soma Bay:
Soma Bay is a closed resort compound next to the national police, it has its own private security and a separate entrance with closed gates.
Kempinski Hotel: in addition to the Soma Bay entrance gates, the Kempinski Hotel has a second set of gates with an additional private security check point, with hotel staff and guards throughout. The hotel is located very far from the country borders and is therefore not affected by any threats. It is a peaceful and completely safe resort, guarded 24 hours a day.
Hurghada Airport: there are high levels of security starting from Hurghada Airport where our guests land all the way to the Kempinski Hotel. The road is full of hotels and resorts, so it is not a secluded area, and there are various security check points along the way.
