We visited many beach locations in Spain before settling on gorgeous laid-back Menorca island for our luxury yoga retreat. Much smaller than Mallorca and less busy than Ibiza, low-key Menorca is quieter, slower, more chilled, and with a true Spanish feel.
Our yoga retreats in Spain are a mix of luxury, pampering, adventure, beach time, culture, great food and top-quality yoga – with a small group and personalized service.
We'll be staying at a luxury hotel on the stunning Cala Galdana beach on Menorca – a little gem with fine white sand and crystal blue-green sea, one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Spain. We’ll practice yoga outdoors twice a day, have breakfast together after morning yoga class, spend the afternoons getting massages, boat trips, exploring secluded beaches on the island, visiting charming towns, hiking and horseback riding. Followed by evening restorative yoga and a group dinner in town or on the beach.
Menorca offers something for everyone – including lazy days by the pool with a book and a drink. This is your yoga holiday, so there are no rules and no schedules – we’ll show you around but completely understand if you want to just relax on your own.
Sure – our fantastic yoga teacher Sarah will modify the yoga classes and poses for beginners, and she'll challenge the more advanced yogis, so everyone can join our yoga retreat. The morning Vinyasa flow classes are quite active, while the evening Yin yoga classes are very restorative and soothing – the perfect balance.
Yes, many people come on their own, as well as friends traveling together, siblings, partners – it’s always an interesting mix. We'll have dinners together and do some things as a group, but we know that solo-time is important to recharge and relax, so we always allow for that space. Our groups are usually 10-12 people from all over the world, and from all different backgrounds.

Menorca has direct flights from many European cities, amazing beaches, delicious restaurants, natural beauties, and a no-stress feel – we really think it’s the perfect place for a yoga escape and a well-deserved break!
We are hosting our yoga retreat at the luxury 5* Melia Gavilanes Cala Galdana hotel:
The Melia Cala Galdana Hotel is a gorgeous 5* hotel set on one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Spain. The panoramic view of the bay from the hotel lobby and from the rooms is breathtaking. We chose this lovely hotel specifically for its superb location on Cala Galdana beach with its fine white sand and clear blue-green water.
The hotel has been recently renovated and is modern and bright, with elegant guest rooms decorated in a contemporary style. They offer spacious bathrooms, air conditioning, free wi-fi and flat screen TVs with international channels. All are equipped with telephone, multimedia hub, safety deposit box, hairdryer, and have a balcony or terrace with stunning views out to sea.
The hotel has several dining options, including a main buffet restaurant (where we also have our delicious breakfast), an Italian restaurant, a beach club for light lunches and cocktails, and a lobby lounge bar. There's a gym, jacuzzi and sauna. Massages and all sorts of beauty treatments are available to keep you pampered, and if you have extra energy, sport activities at the hotel include spinning, cardio box, and aquagym.
Menorca's gentle pace and unspoiled landscape immediately make you feel relaxed. It's the most natural and authentic of the larger Balearic Islands, with a much slower Spanish feel than a busy package holiday destination.
The island's main attraction is its beautiful coastline with numerous gorgeous beaches ranging from large stretches of fine white sand in the south with a Caribbean feel, to tiny hidden rocky coves in the north, and some can only be reached by sea. It's ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving, kayaking and sailing, with plenty of boat trips to discover all the beautiful corners. There are also hiking trails and horseback riding trails along the coast, as well as cycling lanes that criss-cross the island.
The elegant towns of Mahon, the current capital, and Ciutadella – the former capital with a more medina-Moorish feel – are a must to visit. Lined with cathedrals, palaces, and charming pedestrian streets full of boutique shops and cafés, it’s easy to spend an afternoon wandering and exploring them. Binibeca and Fornells are two other charming towns easily visited in an afternoon and a bit more off the beaten track.
No one is ever in a rush in Menorca. Its laidback lifestyle make it an ideal place for a yoga retreat, yet it has so much to offer and so many beautiful places to see and things to do – and the combination is perfect.
There's plenty to do in between yoga classes:
BOAT TRIPS & SAILING
Snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, boat trips - you can spend several days exploring secluded beaches only reachable by boat.
Ciutadella and Mahon are a must see – full of culture and beauty. And lovely Fornells and Binibeca have their own charm.
Horseback riding, hiking, cycling – so many ways to see the island by land. Follow the Cami de Cavalls trail to get the best views.
Visit an outdoor market, browse the boutique shops in the main towns, and feel like a local with a new pair of abarcas Menorca sandals.
Enjoy the hotel's sauna and jacuzzi, and pamper yourself with a massage right in your room – the perfect break in between yoga classes.
From the hotel's Cala Galdana beach to secret coves and fishing holes – Menorca is a beach-lover's paradise.
