MEET THE YOGA ESCAPES TEAM:
Laura has worked in the travel industry for many years, primarily organizing tours for U.S. visitors to Europe, accompanying many guests on their first trips abroad. Born and raised in Rome with an American mother and Italian father, she has lived in New York and London and has traveled extensively to many parts of the world, always in search of those special beautiful corners of the planet.
She is a yoga instructor and has been practicing for over 12 years, experimenting with various styles from Vinyasa, Iyengar and Ashtanga, to restorative and Yin yoga, continuously learning and discovering how yoga can help people physically and emotionally.
After holding marketing jobs in banking and media in New York and London, Laura decided to make a change from corporate life to start her own business. Combining her passion for travel and yoga, she created Yoga Escapes, keen on sharing those two passions with others on her retreats. Here's a short interview with Laura and how the idea of Yoga Escapes was born.
Holly has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. Following an international career as a professional contemporary dancer, she combined many key aspects of both disciplines, with a focus on the power of breathing and its capacity for change on both mind and body.
Working throughout Europe teaching yoga, she played a lead role in designing leadership development courses, helping people strive for excellence while at the same time dissolve stress, reduce inhibitions and overcome personal barriers.
Her teaching focuses on awareness and movement of the breath, alignment, postural strength and vitality. She uses her extensive knowledge and keen eye to adapt each pose according to individual needs, thereby facilitating personal growth and inner confidence. Her primary yoga style is Vinyasa flow, combining active postures with breathing, meditation and deep relaxation.
Holly is the primary yoga teacher at the Yoga London teacher-training school and currently teaches classes in several yoga studios in central London.
Since 2000, Sarah has been immersing herself in a variety of yoga styles ranging from Hatha and dynamic flow to Yin and restorative yoga. Qualified with The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, Sarah teaches private one-to-one sessions, classes at the Third Space and specialist yoga studios Yotopia, the Life Centre, Evolve, Yoga Place in London, as well as on European retreats.
She teaches a strong Vinyasa flow practice but places as much emphasis on proper breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques as the physical asana practice. Through a series of linked postures, Sarah guides students of all levels to improve flexibility, strength, develop mental clarity, creativity and energy, creating positive change to body and mind.
Sarah tailors her poses to suit each student, so whether new to yoga or looking to develop a deeper practice, she gives everyone she works with the courage to let go, tune into themselves and find their own path on the yoga journey. Revived by the restorative effects of practicing outdoors, Sarah gets her fresh air fix rolling out her mat in green spaces or by the sea whenever she can.
Tania leads inspirational yoga classes using the breath to open the body and improve postural alignment. She also includes elements of yogic philosophy into her classes and offers up ways to integrate yoga principles into daily life.
Tania's practice began with her dad as a teenager, and continued with Sivananda Yoga where she experienced first hand the healing power of yoga in dealing with her own back pain and anxieties. As a result, she is now passionate about sharing this with others in a light-hearted and fun way. She teaches Vinyasa flow and restorative Yin yoga on the retreats, while at the same time incorporating her learnings from various other styles.
After 15 years of regular yoga practice, she studied with the Amrita School of Yoga to qualify as a Traditional Hatha Yoga teacher. She has also studied with Claire Missingham (Vinyasa Flow), Charlotte Bliss (Sivananda yoga), Janet Evans (Vini yoga), Dan Levitas (Ashtanga yoga), Nigel Gildersen (Hatha yoga), Christopher Gladwell (radikal freedom), Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, Sitaram (pregnancy / baby yoga). She currently teaches in several high-end studios in London including Triyoga, Yotopia, and the Third Space gym in Soho, as well as privately. She was recently asked by Lululemon to be their yoga ambassador in London, a challenge she happily took on.
Lolo has been involved in the world of health and wellbeing since 1998 when she started working as a nurse in the community. She worked across many specialities over the years, including neurosurgery and critical care. In 2005, while working in intensive care, Lolo became interested in a more holistic approach to healthcare and embarked on her training as an ayurvedic practitioner. Having witnessed first hand the negative health effects of immobility, Lolo was particularly drawn to the therapy of yoga, using it to great effect with her clients.
In 2010 Lolo moved to London and sought to expand her yoga experience and teaching skills, which is when she discovered and fell in love with the dynamic, Ashtanga based Rocket Vinyasa style. Lolo has trained with many wonderful teachers and gives special thanks to The Yoga People, David Kyle and Sarah Powers.
As well as Vinyasa flow and Rocket, Lolo teaches a range of classes, including Yin yoga, specific focused-based classes and workshops, and meditation practices, such as yoga nidra and pranayama.
Lolo has taught in some of the top studios in London, including Indaba Marylebone, Yogarise Peckham, Union Station Clapham, Yotopia Covent Garden and the Life Centre Islington, and she can now also be found online with Udaya yoga.
Lolo’s classes combine a powerful yet nurturing energy with a mischievous sparkle. The more dynamic sessions have a strong emphasis on the breath and aim to balance out strength with flexibility, and hard work with playfulness. In all her classes, Lolo encourages her students on a journey of self-enquiry to find a deeper level of connection and a more embodied practice.
