Soma Bay in Egypt – our pick for an exclusive holiday on the Red Sea.
Many people go to Egypt on a beach break to escape the winter blues and get away from bustling city life, just to find themselves elbowing each other in the crowded resorts of Sharm el-Sheikh or Hurghada.
But there is an alternative!
We’ve discovered a wonderful luxury resort and the best-kept secret on the Red Sea: the gorgeous, exclusive Soma Bay. And the ideal location for a luxury yoga holiday in Egypt on the beach – join us for a well-deserved yoga break!
The best things about Soma Bay Egypt:
Not your average package tourism.
If you’re looking to spoil yourself in total luxury, Soma Bay is the place for you. And not many people know about it yet, which makes it all the more beautiful. This is by no means a package holiday destination, so you’ll probably not get any super discount deals nor two-for-one specials, but if you can afford to splurge just a little bit, you’re in for a special treat! You’ll get superior service, lovely 5* hotels, miles of white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, year-round sunshine and bright blue skies. And Soma Bay is just a short flight from central Europe.
Go on, you deserve a bit of 5* everything.
Soma Bay caters to a high-end clientele who expects only the best in service and quality. The entire resort has been built with this in mind, with five luxury hotels, a beautiful spa, all kinds of sports outlets, and a stylish marina. Many of the hotels are located on the beach, and meticulously maintained to a very high standard, most notably the Kempinski hotel, voted the #1 hotel on the Red Sea and where we host our Egypt luxury yoga retreats. With spacious sea view rooms, a gorgeous white sandy beach, and a series of pools, lagoons and waterfalls – you’ll feel like you’ve arrived in heaven!
Let your body melt into a world-renowned spa.
Soma Bay is home to the famous Cascades Spa, recognized as the best spa in Egypt and one of the largest in the world. It covers over 7,500 square meters with 65 treatment rooms offering all sorts of traditional massages and hydrotherapy to the latest beauty treatments – all personalized to your specific needs. The most beautiful part of the spa is the large Thalasso-Tonic Hydrotherapy Pool, divided into a number of zones with water jets, currents showers and bubbling baths. It’s as beautiful as it is heavenly.
And for those who enjoy a bit of golf…
The 18 hole par 72 golf course in Soma Bay has been repeatedly ranked the #1 golf course in the world outside of Europe for the past several years by readers of Golf Journal. It sits in an idyllic setting with the contrast of the lush greens, blue Red Sea waters, and earthy desert tones. It’s equipped to accommodate any level of golfer, the Club House has all the amenities you can expect, and there’s a free shuttle bus service from all Soma Bay hotels – so getting there is stress-free too.
Love just being by the sea?
If you can pull yourself away from your sun bed on the gorgeous beach, there’s every water sport you can imagine in Soma Bay – people here live for the sea. And we don’t blame them – it’s beautiful!
There are many dive sites in the region easily accessible from the Soma Bay marina, and the diving center is one of the largest and most well-equipped in the Red Sea. These dive sites are considerably less crowded than those found elsewhere in Egypt and include coral gardens, walls, drop-offs and wrecks, suitable for all levels. And the long jetty takes you directly from the Soma Bay marina to the best snorkeling in the region.
Windsurfing and sailing courses are also available, and Soma Bay has the best kitesurfing conditions on the Red Sea. Ranked one of the top three kite spots worldwide, the spectacular bay offers year-round fantastic flat-water conditions, pristine beaches, and perfect winds. The Kite House is the ideal sea-side chill-out spot, with fresh food and cool drinks served daily – the perfect place to relax with some music on this beautiful bay.
Great location and entertainment.
There’s something new happening in Soma Bay every night – either festivities in the charming marina or just enjoying a delicious meal at one of the many wonderful seaside restaurants. There’s also Hurghada town, half an hour away and very accessible for a fun evening out or an afternoon shopping spree. Soma Bay is also conveniently located just a short ride from Hurghada International Airport, with direct flights from many European cities, so getting there is not a struggle either.
