Yoga Retreat in Croatia | September 2023 & 2024
2023: 23–30 September
2024: 14–21 September | 21–28 September
Our Croatia yoga retreat is a deep dive into total indulgence! The luxury hotel, the beach, the town, the food, the yoga, the spa, the sunsets, the infinity pool – it’s a wonderful holiday for all the senses. Escape with us and take a well-deserved pause from your everyday life.
By popular demand, we’ve added more yoga retreats in Croatia near the beautiful town of Rovinj in the northern region of the country close to the Italian border. This is one of the most gorgeous areas of Croatia, with less commercialized tourism and an authentic local feel. Rovinj has a lovely harbor and old pedestrian town, charming squares and outdoor markets, a stunning coast, seaside cafés and delicious restaurants.
We’ll stay in large seaview rooms at the truly stunning 5* Grand Park Rovinj hotel on the coast that just opened two years ago, with a private beach, infinity pool, and a superb spa. This hotel is really a cut above the rest, more like a 6* hotel! And there will be plenty of time to take a leisurely stroll into town just ten minutes away, bike rides along the coast, relax on gorgeous beaches, or take a boat trip to a nearby island.
Our yoga teachers Karen Brown, Tania Brown and Sarah Scott will challenge you but will also give you modifications so you can practice at your own pace. They will help you deepen your practice and give you practical tips that you can take home with you to continue practicing after the yoga retreat.
We love good food and enjoy wine with dinner, we don’t have any restrictions and don’t mind if you sleep in, it’s all part of the holiday! And we’ll be there with you to plan day trips and group dinners, and take care of all the logistics so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

What to expect
We’ll practice yoga twice a day, with an active Vinyasa flow class in the morning and an afternoon Yin yoga class, and all yoga levels are welcome. But we also believe that the holiday part is as important as the yoga part. So there’s plenty of time to relax and explore the area. Two of us will be there to show you around and take care of everything.
We have people joining our yoga retreats from all over the world. We enjoy eating out at delicious restaurants, we eat and drink what we like, we’ll plan day trips to beaches and nearby towns, but completely understand if you just want to relax by the pool with a book. Many people join us on their own, it’s your time out so everything is optional, including the yoga classes. If you feel tired and want to skip a class – we won’t judge!
The weather in Rovinj is perfect in September – warm enough to go for swims and eat at the lovely outdoor restaurants, but not too hot so we can still practice yoga outdoors. The ideal time of year to visit this wonderful part of Croatia.

Luxury Accommodation
5* Grand Park Hotel Rovinj
We’re hosting our yoga retreat in Croatia at the 5* Grand Park Hotel Rovinj – a brand new modern hotel located by the the seafront with a private beach, and just a few minutes walk into Rovinj town. We’ll be staying in large Premium Seaview rooms with terraces and beautiful views out to the islands and town.
The hotel has an infinity pool, an indoor sports pool, an outdoor relaxation pool, as well as a cool plunge pool. The high-end spa offers a wide variety of pampering treatments, several saunas and steamrooms, as well a lovely relaxation area after your treatment.
There’s also a well-equipped gym and personal trainers on site, bike rentals, kayaks and paddle boards, tennis courts and fitness classes.
The food is delicious as well – there are four international restaurants, as well as three bars and cafés, some in the hotel and some along the promenade and marina.
Local Cuisine
The food in Rovinj is influenced by the proximity to Italy and by the fresh seafood and fish sourced locally – so you can expect the best. You’ll find Croatian ‘fuzi’ pasta dishes with truffles and various sauces, as well as grilled squid and grilled sea bass and grouper. Fresh local olive oil is used in many dishes, on fresh vegetables and salads. And the home-made gelato is delicious – it’s a foodie heaven! Croatia has also some very nice wines, especially the dry white variety.
Eat and drink what you like
You can eat and drink what you like on our yoga retreats – we don’t have any restrictions, in fact we encourage you to try out all the options from vegetarian to fish, meat, casseroles. All healthy, delicious, Mediterranean food with pure natural local ingredients. And there are plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free or if you have a specific dietary need – we’re very mindful of that.
We’ll have a large buffet breakfast after yoga, with many choices including eggs, pancakes and toasts, fruit juices, veggies, fresh fruits and cheeses, yoghurts. This keeps us going for most of the afternoon, but some people enjoy a light lunch or afternoon snack.
We’ll plan a group dinner at a different restaurant each evening. We’ll take the group into Rovinj town some evenings, and other evenings we’ll eat at one of the restaurants near the hotel.
The buffet breakfast / brunch is included in the price. We purposefully didn’t include snacks and dinners so everyone can decide what they like to eat and spend accordingly, rather than have pre-set dinners at the hotel which would be more expensive. You only pay for what you eat and drink, there are many nice restaurants and they’re very reasonably priced.
Where we are going
Where is the yoga retreat located?
Our yoga retreat in Croatia is located near the stunning town of Rovinj in Istria – a beautiful region on the northern part of Croatia, close to the Italian border (see Rovinj on a map). It’s less commercialized than other parts of the country and still maintains a very authentic Croatian feel.
Our 5* hotel is located on the coast, about a 10 minute walk into Rovinj town, with lovely views of the bay and the nearby islands. There are plenty of things to see and do – gorgeous beaches, towns, hiking, cycling, shopping, watersports, boat trips. You can stroll the streets of Rovinj or take the hotel’s complimentary boat ride to one of the nearby islands.
The closest airport is Pula International airport.
About Rovinj town in Croatia
Rovinj is a charmingly picturesque town with narrow, cobbled streets leading up to the hilltop church of St. Euphemia, whose towering steeple dominates the skyline. It has a beautiful harbor with lively cafés and restaurants, galleries and an active fishing port.
The town was originally an island, but 250 years ago the narrow channel which separated it from the mainland was filled in. We’ll stroll into town often for dinner, walk along the harbor and promenade, and wander around the tangled cobbled streets – it’s a must-see!
What yoga means to us
Yoga is at the heart of our retreats, and we offer the real deal. You’ll definitely get a good workout, but the goal of the physical practice is to challenge you physically so you can begin to let go and quiet the mind. That’s what yoga is all about – calming the mind. And that’s what we teach on our yoga retreats. You will feel re-energized and restored both physically and mentally.
Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga
We offer two yoga classes a day on our yoga retreat in Croatia: an active morning Vinyasa flow class to get you going, and a slower Yin class in the afternoon. Both classes are suitable for all levels.
Your yoga teachers and host
Sarah Scott will be teaching in Croatia from the 14-21 September 2024, and Tania Brown will be teaching from the 21-28 September 2024.
They will teach a dynamic Vinyasa flow class in the mornings and a slower Yin yoga class in the afternoons. They will modify classes for all levels so you can practice at your own pace and will offer challenging poses for the more advanced.
Laura will also be there on all the retreats to make sure everything runs smoothly, to organize day trips and group dinners.

Activities & Excursions
There’s plenty to do in between yoga classes:
Day trips
Explore the medieval towns in central Istria, the amphitheatre in Pula, the Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč, or the Baredine cave. Or take a sailing trip around the Rovinj archipelago.
Shopping
Spend an afternoon strolling the pedestrian streets of Rovinj filled with local artisan shops selling local delicacies, jewelry, dresses, hats and ceramics.
There are many cycling trails – some are paved and some are off-road, and some along the gorgeous coast. Rent a bike at the hotel and explore the area away from cars and crowds.
Treat yourself to a relaxing spa treatment, get pampered with a facial or a massage and give your body some well-deserved attention.
Visit Venice on a day trip from Rovinj, take a gondola ride down the canals and islands, and have a coffee on the gorgeous St. Mark’s square.
Take a complimentary boat to one of the beaches on nearby islands, or simply lounge on the hotel’s private beach.

What people are saying
Here's a blog post about our Croatia yoga retreat by one of our yogis.
In the words of Patty:
"While every trip I take often feels like the trip of a lifetime, this one in the midst of a world-wide pandemic will remain with me for quite some time. The camaraderie amongst our small group was priceless and the town of Rovinj magical leaving me almost speechless."
Patty, September 2020
