Melt into pure luxury on a yoga retreat in Egypt.

Yoga Retreat in Egypt on the Red Sea | November 2023

23–30 November 2023

Our yoga retreat in Egypt is the perfect winter escape to a gorgeous white sandy beach, yoga by the sea, sailing and snorkeling, day trips to pharaoh tombs and ancient Egyptian sites, and a healthy dose of delicious hummus and tabouleh! All wrapped up with the most wonderful service and attention to detail by our Egyptian friends at the stunning 5* Kempinski Hotel on the Red Sea. This is pure luxury.

We have people joining us from all over the world, solo travelers and all yoga levels are welcome, from beginners to more advanced. Our yoga teacher Liz Joubert will modify classes so you can practice at our own pace. And the weather at the end of November is perfect – warm and sunny for swims in the sea and dips in the pool, but not too hot so we can still practice yoga outdoors on our yoga terrace.

Come discover Egypt with us and enjoy a week of warm sunshine on a relaxing beach, with an added dose of culture and history to stimulate the senses – we’ll be there to take care of all the logistics so you don’t have to worry about a thing!

What to expect

We’ve found the most exclusive beach location on the Red Sea to host our yoga retreat in Egypt. Soma Bay is the ideal setting – a beautiful 5* resort on a gorgeous beach with a natural laid-back feel.

There’s peace and tranquility, we’ll spend time relaxing on the beach, we’ll practice yoga on a covered terrace just steps from the sea, splurge on spa treatments and enjoy delicious meals. And for the more adventurous – we’ll visit Luxor and the Valley of the Kings on a day trip, a must see! As well as several other breathtaking ancient Egyptian sites nearby.

We’ll have dinners together and do some things as a group, and we’ll plan day trips and excursions, but we know that solo-time is important to recharge and relax, so we always allow for that space.

Luxury Accommodation

5* Kempinski Hotel

Our yoga retreat in Egypt will take place at the stunning 5* Kempinski Hotel – if you’re looking for absolute luxury, this is it. The Kempinski Hotel was voted the #1 hotel on the Red Sea and is unanimously considered to be the most high-end hotel in the region.

It resembles an ancient Moorish fortress, mixing contemporary European and Egyptian styles. It has a stunning entrance, and a series of pools, lagoons and waterfalls flowing down to a white sandy beach. The hotel’s customer service is full of warm Egyptian hospitality, and the feeling of peace is heavenly.

We’ll stay in large modern rooms with private balconies and lovely views of the Red Sea. Internet is included, as is free access to the gym, sauna, steamroom, jacuzzi and health club pool.

There’s also beach volleyball, guided snorkeling trips, aqua-gym, intro classes to golf and tennis, a cooking class and several boat trips.

Dinner in soma bay egypt on a luxury yoga retreat with Yoga Escapes

Local Cuisine

Soma Bay has many dining options and we’ll have a chance to explore various restaurants and cuisines during the yoga retreat. The Kempinski hotel has several restaurants, including a pan-Asian restaurant, and a traditional Egyptian restaurant.

Egyptian food is full of healthy delicious veggies, with a variety of fish and meat dishes, as well as casseroles made with grains, pulses, and vegetables. We don’t have any restrictions on food and drinks, so this is a great way to experience the delicious local cuisine and immerse yourself in the culture.

The restaurants also offer western-style choices and a Mediterranean diet for those who prefer not to venture into unknown food territory! There are plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free, or if you have a specific dietary need. As well as some nice wines.

The buffet breakfast / brunch is included in the price. We purposefully didn’t include snacks and dinners so everyone can decide what they like to eat and spend accordingly, rather than have pre-set dinners at the hotel. You only pay for what you eat and drink, there are many nice restaurants and they’re very reasonably priced. We’ll plan a group dinner each night for those who would like to join, or you can dine separately, up to you.

Where we are going

Where is the yoga retreat located?

Our yoga retreat in Egypt is located in the exclusive upscale resort of Soma Bay, on the Red Sea (see Soma Bay on a map), just 30 minutes south of Hurghada, but without all the crowds.

Soma Bay is not touristy and you won’t find package holidays groups – just people in the know, enjoying a break in a peaceful place.

The 5* Kempinski hotel is on a peaceful quiet beach, with all the charm of local Egyptian culture, and all the modern necessities to make this a truly luxurious escape.

And we’ll be there to show you around, take care of everything, organize dinners and activities, and offer you an unforgettable experience!

There are direct flights to Hurghada Airport from several international cities.

About Soma Bay and the Red Sea

Soma Bay is relaxing and beautiful with sunshine year-round. It’s the most exclusive beach resort on the Red Sea, still unspoiled by mass tourism, and the perfect destination for a week of yoga, beach and relaxation.

You’ll find some of the most beautiful sandy beaches on the Red Sea, and the peninsula is surrounded on three sides by gorgeous blue water. It has the best spa in Egypt and offers plenty of activities from sailing, diving and snorkeling, kitesurfing and golfing – all right near our 5* hotel.

The resort also offers delicious restaurants and stylish cafés, to beach BBQs and seaside bars. It also has one of the premier yachting marinas in Egypt, with peaceful alleys, courtyards, and boutique shops.

To find out more information about this beautiful resort, visit the Soma Bay website.

What yoga means to us

Yoga is at the heart of our retreat, and we offer the real deal. You’ll definitely get a good workout, but the goal of the physical practice is to challenge you physically so you can begin to let go and quiet the mind. That’s what yoga is all about – calming the mind. And that’s what we teach on our yoga retreat. You will feel re-energized and restored both physically and mentally.

Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga

We offer two yoga classes a day on our yoga retreat in Egypt: an active morning Vinyasa flow class to get you going, and a slower Yin class in the afternoons. Both classes are suitable for all levels.

What is Vinyasa? What is Yin Yoga?

Your yoga teacher and host

Liz Joubert

Liz will teach two yoga classes on our yoga retreat in Egypt – an invigorating Vinyasa flow class in the morning and a slower Yin yoga class in the afternoon. She will challenge you but will also offer alternatives for each pose, so you can practice at your own pace, and join the yoga retreat even if you’ve never tried yoga before.

Laura will also be with there to make sure everything runs smoothly and to make sure you have a wonderful yoga week!
