Explore the souks of Marrakesh on a luxury yoga retreat in Morocco.

Yoga Retreat in Morocco | February 2024

25 February – 3 March 2024

Marrakesh is a truly unique place – you’ll feel like you’ve landed in a completely different world, where all your senses are being stimulated!

With so many beautiful corners to explore in between yoga classes, full of colors, aromas, music, spices – our luxury yoga retreat in Morocco is a real cultural experience. We’ll show you the winding alleys of the outdoor souk markets, beautiful palaces and traditional riads. We’ll plan a camel ride and tea in the desert, a day trip to the Atlas mountains and a homemade lunch with a Berber family. With plenty of time to relax at our high-end spa and pool at our 5* hotel.

Our yoga teacher Erin Dusek will teach two yoga classes a day – an active Vinyasa flow class in the morning and an evening restorative Yin yoga class at sunset. We welcome all yoga levels, we have people joining us from all over the world, and many solo travelers – so come along even on your own.

Two of us from Yoga Escapes will be there with the group to manage all the logistics, so no need to worry that you’re venturing into unfamiliar territory on your own. We’ll take care of everything – book group dinners, day trips and activities, taxi rides, airport transfers, tour guides – we’ve been using very reliable local agencies for years and they know our yoga groups well. We’ll show you around and keep you safe!

What to expect

Our yoga escape to Morocco is much more of a yoga holiday than a yoga retreat. Rather than retreating to somewhere secluded, we’re immersing ourselves into the life and culture of Morocco and all its beauty. And then pampering ourselves at our lovely 5* hotel and spa.

The weather at the end of February / beginning of March is warm and sunny – it feels like summer, perfect for practicing yoga outdoors and dips in the pool.

Superb yoga is at the heart of this trip, and we promise you will return home having improved your yoga practice, and feeling stronger and more relaxed both physically and mentally.

But you can also expect to be pampered and taken care of, to indulge in a little me-time at the spa, to enjoy good food and a glass of wine, to meet people from all over the world with interesting stories and life experiences. It’s an easygoing warm atmosphere, and yes you can skip a yoga class if you’re tired – we won’t judge!

Luxury Accommodation

5* Es Saadi Palace Marrakesh

We’re hosting our yoga retreat in Morocco at the 5* Es Saadi Palace – a luxury hotel located in a quiet neighborhood just a few minutes from the old town.

The hotel is a mix of a modern contemporary style and traditional Moroccan architecture, with all the amenities you can expect from a luxury hotel. We’ll be staying in large Junior Suites with terraces and views out to the garden and pool area.

The hotel has one of the largest swimming pools in Marrakesh, a hydrotherapy indoor pool, and a fantastic spa with a Moroccan hammam. It offers all sorts of treatments from traditional body scrubs to a variety of massages (time to spoil yourself!).

There are several restaurants offering typical Moroccan cuisine, French options, as well as an organic restaurant.

delicious moroccan tagines and slow cooked dishes on a luxury yoga retreat in Marrakesh

Local Cuisine

Tasty tagines, vegetable casseroles, slow-cooked fish and meat dishes, cous cous – Morocco’s cuisine is full of flavors!

We’ll have a buffet breakfast after yoga with many options – eggs and omelets, pancakes, toasts, fruit juices, veggies, cheeses, yoghurts. Some people have a light lunch or afternoon snack, and we’ll plan group dinners at typical Moroccan restaurants. Marrakesh has a strong French influence so we’ll also try some French brasseries for dinner.

Eat and drink what you like

You can eat and drink what you like, we don’t have any restrictions and we’re very mindful of people’s dietary needs. There are option for you if you are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free or have any other dietary preference. We often have a glass of wine with dinner, and we enjoy trying out the local Moroccan dishes – it’s all part of the cultural experience!

The buffet breakfast / brunch is included in the price. We didn’t include snacks and dinners so everyone can decide what they like to eat and spend accordingly. You only pay for what you eat and drink, there are many nice restaurants and they’re very reasonably priced.

Where we are going

Where is the yoga retreat located?

Our yoga retreat in Morocco is located in Marrakesh – a vibrant city full of history and color (see Marrakesh on a map).

Our 5* hotel is in the modern upscale part of the city, just five minutes from the bustling town center. So you can easily explore the souks and all the cultural sites, and just as easily return to the peace and calm of our luxury hotel and spend time by the pool or spa.

There’s also plenty to explore near Marrakesh – day trip to the desert, the Atlas mountains, hiking, Essaouira town on the beach. We’ll offer up ideas.

Marrakesh is easy to get to with direct flights from London and from several other European cities.

About Marrakesh

Marrakesh is an enchanting place with lots of energy and culture.

The Medina – the famous walled Medieval town – is lined with picturesque squares, mosques and gardens, and definitely worth a visit.

Also worth exploring are the renovated riads – traditional Moroccan houses and palaces with an interior courtyard. Followed by a stroll in the maze-like alleys where bustling souks (marketplaces) sell traditional textiles, jewelry and colorful pottery. We’ll take you!

There is also a modern side to Marrakech, with luxury hotels and lovely restaurants, as well as several residential neighborhoods nearby.

What yoga means to us

Yoga is at the heart of our retreats, and we offer the real deal. You’ll definitely get a good workout, but the goal of the physical practice is to challenge you physically so you can begin to let go and quiet the mind. That’s what yoga is all about – calming the mind. And that’s what we teach on our yoga retreats. You will feel re-energized and restored both physically and mentally.

Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga

We offer two yoga classes a day on our yoga retreat in Morocco: an active morning Vinyasa flow class to get you going, and a slower Yin class in the afternoons. Both classes are suitable for all levels.

What is Vinyasa? What is Yin Yoga?

Your yoga teacher and host

Erin Dusek

Erin will be our yoga teacher in Morocco, she’ll modify classes for all levels so you can practice at your own pace. She’ll offer options for those just starting out on their yoga journey and offer more challenging poses for the more advanced yogis.

Laura will also be on the retreat along with the yoga teacher to make sure everything runs smoothly, to organize day trips and group dinners.
